Q: How do your playoff brackets work?
A: Using your league's configuration, the playoff teams are seeded depending on their finish. If using Divisions, the Division winners are given the top seeds based on their record. The remaining seeds are given to the non-division winners with the best records. If using Playoff Byes, those teams are given the first week of playoffs off. The teams are then matched-up with the lowest seeded team matching up with the highest remaining seed, the second lowest seed against the second highest remaining seed and so on. Depending on how many rounds you have configured for your playoffs, teams are reseeded after each round of the playoffs to make sure the highest seeded team plays the lowest seeded team as mentioned earlier, unless this option is turned off in configuration.

Q: So, if we have 3 divisions and 4 playoff teams, a team that wins one of the divisions get into the playoffs even if they have the 5th-best record in the league?
A: That is correct. When using more than one division, all division winners are considered the top teams, regardless of record. So, it is possible that a team that does not win their division does not make the playoffs even if they have a better record than another division record. Fantasy football can be a cruel mistress at times.

Q: We just started our playoffs and there is a new position in the dropdown list called "Tie". What is that used for?
A: The "Tie" position is a designated Tie-breaker position. In the playoffs, ties are not a possibility, so your Commissioner has ranked a list of Tie-breakers. In that list is an option called "Tie-breaker Bench Player". This is to be used on a bench player, not a starter. You will need to check your League Settings to determine which tie-breaker level this option is on. If your game ends in a tie and this option gets invoked, the Tie-breaker bench player's points on your team will be compared to the Tie-breaker bench player's points on your opponent's team. If one total is greater than the other, that team is declared the victor. If they are equal, then the next Tie-breaker level is processed.

Q: We would like to change the playoff start week but the setting is locked. Can it be done?
A: The setting locks after the season starts. So, this cannot be changed after the season starts as the schedule for the regular season has already been generated and the weeks have been reserved for the playoff week you have already established.

Q: I won my Public League. How do I collect my prize?
A: First off, congratulations on winning the league! We will send out all payments for Public fantasy football leagues and pools as soon as the league is complete. A payment may be delayed if it requires the W-9 tax information to be provided (winnings over $600). We cannot pay out to the credit card that you used to purchase your team as our credit card company does not keep your credit card information on file so a check is mailed. Make sure the address on your Profile is correct!

Q: How do your Playoff tie-breakers work when multiple teams are tied for a playoff spot? Our first tie-breaker is head-to-head results and the second tie-breaker is Total Starting Points for the season.
A: We strongly believe that head-to-head results mean the most when breaking a tie. However, scenarios exist when multiple teams are involved that prevent this tie-breaker from being used fairly. Here are the steps our code goes through:

  • If not all teams that are tied have played each other, head-to-head results are skipped and we move on to the next tie breaker.
  • If all teams played each other and one team has won every matchup, then that team wins the head-to-head tie-breaker and receives a playoff berth.
  • If all teams played each other but did not play the same number of games against each other, head-to-head results are skipped and we move on to the next tie breaker.
  • If all teams played each other and all teams had the same number of games against each other, then the team with the best results overall amongst the group receives the playoff berth. See the Rules section for more details.

Q: How do your Playoff tie-breakers work when multiple teams are tied for winning the division? Our first tie-breaker is head-to-head results and the second tie-breaker is Total Starting Points for the season.
A: The same tie-breaker logic listed above is applied, but only to the teams in that division. If there are teams in other divisions with the same record, they are ignored initially. Division winners are always determined first and then the remaining playoff spots are filled with wildcards.

Q: How do your Playoff seedings work when multiple playoff teams are tied with the same record? Our first tie-breaker is head-to-head results and the second tie-breaker is Total Starting Points for the season.
A: After the playoff teams have been determined, we follow these steps to determine the seeding:

  • The division winners are ranked using their overall league record. If two or more division winners are tied with the same record, the better seed is given to the team that wins using the exact same tie-breaking logic that determines who receives a playoff berth.
  • The wildcard teams are ranked using their overall league record. If two or more wildcard teams are tied with the same record, the better seed is given to the team that wins using the exact same tie-breaking logic that determines who receives a playoff berth.

So, it is possible for a wildcard winner to have a lower seeding, but a better record, than a higher seeded team...even one with a Bye.
