PART-SEASON LEAGUES

For the true fantasy football fanatic, drafting and managing a team over the course of the season is the most rewarding experience. However, who doesn’t also like a quick return on an investment as well?! Plus, having ways to own the right players for the best game matchups and profit from it is a way to showcase your expertise. To have the best of both worlds, you can participate in short-term fantasy football games, contests, matchups…whatever you want to call them during the course of the season to augment your full-season fantasy football experience.

These short-term contests have one common trait; they are run as Total Points leagues. So, your goal is to simply build the best starting line-up that you can that will reap the most points and help you collect your prize money. The league types will vary so make sure to read the league settings and contest description so you know how to best build your lineup. You can see more information about these leagues on the Public Leagues Rule page.

DAILY FANTASY FOOTBALL GAMES – MFS refuses to call these entities “leagues”. These games exist for 1 day. The player pool will consist of players that play on that day. This is the quickest turnaround you can get, without going to the betting window, that is. You will either build your team via the draft or via the shared player pool, where multiple teams will be able to own the same player, whichever the league settings dictate. There will be no waivers or trading. It is very straight-forward; build your best starting lineup of players playing on the day of the contest and try to outscore all other owners.

WEEKLY FANTASY FOOTBALL GAMES – MFS refuses to call these entities “leagues”, as well. The games are run for the course of one NFL week. During the regular season, that often means that the week will start with Thursday night’s game and run through Monday night’s game. Of course, there are variations to the schedule depending on which week it is, but y’all should know that an NFL week does not correspond to a calendar week. You will either build your team via the draft or via the shared player pool where multiple teams will be able to own the same player, whichever the league settings dictate. Again, there will be no waivers or trading. Just build your best starting lineup of players playing during that NFL week and try to outscore all other owners.

MONTHLY FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUES – These leagues are also known as “4-Week Frenzy Leagues” since they run over the course of 4 NFL weeks.  Since these leagues are multi-week leagues, more common fantasy football traits are found, such as waivers, trading and some additional MFS features, such as Bye Week Rollover. As always, know your league settings prior to building your team and remember to account for Bye weeks should your league run during the Bye Week season, which is about half the NFL season nowadays. The league is still too short for a Head-to-Head league so it is run as a Total Points league.

Public leagues offered at MFS are all listed on our Open Leagues page and our Public Leagues page, but here is a snapshot as well:

  • Traditional leagues – a Total Points league featuring the most widely-accepted positions and scoring system: 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WR/TE, 1 RB/WR swing, 1 TE, 1 D, 1 K. You can find draft and non-draft leagues of different sizes and fees/payouts. Full configuration settings are found on the Open Leagues page.

  • PPR leagues – a Total Points league that resembles the Traditional league but the scoring system awards a point per reception and RB/WR TDs drop to 4 points each with bonuses awarded (extra 1 or 2 points) for longer TDs. You can find draft and non-draft leagues of different sizes and fees/payouts. Full configuration settings are found on the Open Leagues page.

  • TD Only leagues – a Total Points is a big departure from Traditional fantasy leagues and harken back to the days of scoring on paper when the Commissioner made life easy on himself and only needed to score points for Touchdowns. TD scoring only is what you will find here so you won’t have to worry about drafting any idiot kickers. TD points vary with the distant of the touchdown. You can find draft and non-draft leagues of different sizes and fees/payouts. Full configuration settings are found on the Open Leagues page.

  • Injury-Proof leagues - a Total Points league that resembles the Traditional league but a Team Quarterback is used in place of an individual QB, In-game changes are allowed by Half and you can add 2 players to your bench. It is strongly recommended to use a bench RB and a bench WR from late games as injury replacements should one occur early enough in his game to allow for changing his 2nd half. Roster changes are made from the Game Roster link on the Team home page. The twist in this league is you will be able to change players at the half. This helps if you have a player that is hurt or underperforming. Of course, the first half is locked in already and you will only be able to replace the second half with another player’s half that is currently open (either first or second half). You can find draft and non-draft leagues of different sizes and fees/payouts. Full configuration settings are found on the Open Leagues page.

  • 4-week Frenzy leagues - 10-team Live Draft Total Points league that runs for 4 weeks. These will be staggered throughout the year for those looking for a shorter-term league that requires more skill than luck to win. The league set-up resembles the Traditional league but an additional starting RB/WR swing position is added and the scoring system matches the standard except for ranges for the kicking and defensive statistics. The leagues that will start in week 3 will end in week 6, when the Bye weeks begin. Leagues that are fully immersed in Bye weeks will have the Bye Week Rollover feature added to their league configuration.
